"Possible Impact of CSR in economic dynamics of Italian SMEs"
As mentioned in the previous issue of this newsletter, the NCP has recently completed a survey on possible impacts of CSR in economic dynamics of SMEs in Italy.
The survey, jointly realized with Celit (Centre of Integrated Work in the Territory), has been realized on 50 SMEs operating in the Italian Centre-North Regions.

NCP Committee Induction meeting April 3, 2006
The meeting, headed by the Responsible of the Secretariat Mrs Loredana Gulino, was attended by representatives of various Central Administrations as by: the Ministry of Economic Development; the Ministry of the Economy and Finances; the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies; the Ministry for Environment and Protection of the Territory; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry for Health, as well as representatives of the business world and labour unions (Confindustria and UIL), and representatives of the NGO Transparency International Italia invited to the work as an observer.
The open speech of the President of the Committee welcomed the Committee's members. He opened the sessions by illustrating tasks and strategic guidelines of the NCP. The address was followed by a description of the contents and purposes of the OECD Guidelines for Multinationals, carried out by the Responsible of the Secretariat.
Members of the Committee have really appreciated the launch of NCP's activities, and have ensured the willingness for a profitable cooperation with NCPs, of the institutions which they represent.
Next Meeting of the Committee will be expected on October 2006. |

Mission in Marocco
The Mission, jointly organized by the NCP, the Chamber of Commerce of Milan and Promos, took place in Morocco between 14 and 17 May 2006.
The central point of this mission, promoted to diffuse the "OECD Guidelines" in local authorities and businesses, has been the conference dedicated to this kind of recommendations. The representatives of the Italian NCP and of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan, the counsellor Mr. Rotti, have participated as speakers.
Moreover, representatives of the "MSE", as well as of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan and Promos, have met their counterparts from the Chamber of Commerce of Casablanca, the CGEM (Moroccan Confindustria) and the Centre Régional d'Investissement. The MSE is defining a cooperation agreement with the Centre Régional d'Investissement, in order to diffuse the "OECD Guidelines" among Moroccan members.
Moreover, during the last days (18-20 June 2006) the NCP, in cooperation with KPMG and Logos, has participated to an institutional mission in Israel and Jordan, similar to the Moroccan one. Further information on this event on the next issue of the NCPMagazine. |

Publishing of the book entitled: "GuidaRSI - La responsabilità sociale delle imprese (Corporate Social Responsibility) Paths, strategies, witnesses"
During the last edition of the event "Civitas" (held in Padova on 5-7 May 2006), the volume "GuideRSI - La Responsabilità Sociale delle Imprese” (CSRGuide – Corporate Social Responsibility)” has been presented. The NCP has given a contribution to this publication, dedicated to its activities and CSR interpretations.
This book, designed to become a reference book for SMEs on responsible behaviours, faces in a simple and exhaustive manner the CSR matter, by providing a wide range of witnesses of representatives of the institutional, financial and social fields.

Updating of training courses "OECD Guidelines and sustainable development of internationalization processes" promoted by the Veneto Region
As mentioned in the first issue of our Newsletter, two seminars dedicated to the theme: “OECD Guidelines and the sustainable development in internationalization processes” have been held in May.
These meetings, which took place in Verona on 22 May 2006 and in Vicenza on 23 May 2006 respectively, have been organized by the NCP - in cooperation with KPMG, Consorzio ZAI, Logos, FICEI, Confindustria, ANCI CNC - in order to promote abroad an Italian model of responsible business.
During the meetings, information on the "OECD Guidelines for Multinational Businesses" and on the principles of CSR and the Italian system based on local autonomies have been provided. Moreover, the Institutional and administrative structure, as well as the economic and commercial situation of Israel, Jordan and Russia have been also explained. They will be the subject of the institutional missions which will end these initiatives.
Those three countries have been selected by the NCP at the suggestion of category associations, after having confirmed the interest expressed by the businesses of Veneto Region, involved in this initiative.

Partecipation to the "2006 NCPs international meeting"
The NCP attended this year edition of the "NCP international meeting", which was held in the OECD headquarters in Paris on last 19-21 June 2006. Further information on this event on the next issue of our Newsletter.

Upcoming NCP activities
Within the initiative "OECD Guidelines and the sustainable development of internationalization processes", the NCP is organizing seminars to inform and raise awareness of entrepreneurs in adopting the "OECD Guidelines destined to multinational enterprises", and to favour their penetration in foreign markets.
Equivalent to what happened during the meetings carried out on May in Verona and Vicenza (see above) and on last 11 July in Brescia, also the seminars expected to be held in Venice (next 19 July) and Vicenza (next 26 July), aim at promoting abroad an Italian model of responsible business, and at transferring knowledge of the OECD Guidelines, as well as providing the institutional and economic structure of foreign countries, in which next institutional missions promoted by the NCP, are expected to be held.
